And Weekends were made for family

And spending time getting to know one another, when you start in the middle of life as we have this day.
I received my very first fathers day gift from my soon to be six year old, that includes a coozie and a very nice note. My children have voracious appetites or at least a couple of them do, gee I think this is pay back for me eating my father out of house at home. We spent the day choosing colors for bedrooms, choosing books for reading and wandering about Target and Wal Mart figuring out ways to spend money. Went to Lowe's on Saturday, three children all girls chose colors for two rooms, do you know how many different color samples that they have at Lowe's or Home Depot for that matter? Neither did I until I watched them look at each and every one of them. When my boys went through, who have to share a room for a little bit, I barely had time to lean against the counter, then its like hey Mom and Dad, we want this one..... period. No hemming and hawing. Then there is the book store, since we like to read and as a family we will encourage our children and other's in our life to read. We paid a visit to the local bookstore, everyone was give a limit, except me, why should I, dad's the one with the credit card, he shouldn't have a limit

This week in review

Hello, I'm back with some real updates and impressions for you.
The bunk beds that we ordered a little while back came last Friday, then they sat around looking goofy until Tuesday when Antoinette tried to take them from their boxes, they immediately rebelled and were left sitting there until I could provide some attention. I then tackled them last night, rebuilt one bed after it tried to beat me down, the other one promptly put it self together after a little helping foot from Antoinette.

Now on to the good stuff.......
Friday night, evening what ever you call it these days Antoinette and I took our two oldest children out for dinner at TGI Fridays somewhere down in Richmond, we had fun, much fun, mad fun or at least I think that we did. I see my little baby brother in Anthony, I'll call him Ant for short and I see some striking similarities in Linda whom, I'll call Miss Linda for short, with my sister in law Sam, who is always going to be called chipmunk. We laughed and joked and we held hands. We felt in some ways like we've been together for much longer than a few minutes like the book says that we have. I would like to think and I feel like they are ready to move together with us and enjoy having each other together again.,

Miss Linda wants to be a paediatrician,( I think I spelled that right, its a kids doctor of some sort, hey leave me alone, I'm an engineer, I think all doctors are the same, give shots, play golf all day) And Ant, we'll have to work on him a little more, nothing wrong with sports, but the young man is lighter than I, shorter than I and eats like I do, in short, we'll work on his other muscle (read brain) he does like math, (I did'nt, still hate it, but I'm still pretty good at it.) Linda likes english, so did I, but english I treat like a bastard second language (I do speak engineer fairly fluently)

On This Day

On this day, in this house
I reflect upon my change of life.
Today -- I am going to be a father, a dad, pops, the old man.

I look forward to the long days and the long walks,
the sharing of wisdom, the sharing of pain, joy and happiness.
I look to this journey with intrepid joy and some anguish..

And while tomorrow is going to be a new day, today is dad's day.

First Impressions

The wait seemed so long. You look and look for what seems like hours, but it's just minutes. All of a sudden there you are looking and counting as your future unravels itself before. Will they like me? What should I say? Does anything in life matter any more than this? Oh, my gosh, they are all so beautiful and we have been tasked will helping to make their journey safe and wonderful. This is such an honor that we are the chosen ones. We are so thankful to God for blessing us with these six wonderful children. The journey now begins.

I remember the first time I laid eyes on you

Today Antoinette and I were introduced to our children. So for one thing, I can say honestly, I have met my children, my seeds, my progeny, my future. We found each other in a bowling alley after a collection of experiences and encounters spoke loudly and forcefully to us. Each and every one is a charm and a jewel all unto themselves. I am looking forward to my adventure, my journey, my life. I am the daddy person for the family in a box.
